Asish, who is speaking to us virtually, is a Microsoft certified Professional for Office 365 and SharePoint. He has worked for many major multinational companies and has 12+ years of experience in SharePoint and Enterprise Collaboration solutions and is currently working at Kloud Solutions in Sydney.

At this month's meeting, we have Asish Padhy presenting "Building Modern Intranets with SharePoint Communication Sites" to the group this month.

The Modern SharePoint Communication sites provide a responsive rich experience which makes them a great candidate for SharePoint Intranets. Along with it, the modern experience enriches the way content can be structured, tagged with metadata and curated by content owners.
There are obvious limitations with the modern experience and will present few approaches to overcome these limitations. In this session, we will get a quick overview of Communication sites, and various advantages and limitations of the modern experience sites. In addition, we will look at how to map the old SharePoint structures in Classic sites to New experience and options to achieve that.
This session is focused towards: Business Sponsors, Change Leaders, Project Managers, Architects, UX Designers and Developers.
Participants will gain an understanding of:
- How to use SharePoint Communication Sites as an Intranet
- An Effective approach to build Modern Intranet focusing on End user adoption and better content delivery
- Migration plan for Old to New Intranet mapping structure
- Latest updates in SharePoint Communication sites from May 2018

SharePoint Server 2019 Public Preview
Today, Microsoft delivered the first public preview of SharePoint Server 2019 and Project Server 2019!

- New ways to engage with content across browsers and devices

SharePoint Server 2019 Preview provides a first look at a select set of new investments that will help define the scope, scale, and reliability of SharePoint Server 2019
Some quick highlights:
- Modern User Experience
- Quick Page editing and web part insertion
- Colour Formatting columns in lists and library's using JSON
- Large File support – Up to 15GB per file

Microsoft Business Applications Summit
Another event which took place this was, was the first ever Business Applications Summit.
The Microsoft Business Applications Summit brings together a community of business users and partners to discover how Microsoft's Business Application Platform can move their organizations forward.
The event empowers users to more effectively translate data into actionable insights, creating the best, longest-lasting solutions for their business.
Over the two days, attendees and the community came together with the engineering teams that build Dynamics 365, Power BI, PowerApps, and Microsoft Flow to connect, share, learn, and be the first to know where Microsoft's going and what's coming next across the Business Applications landscape.

Microsoft Inspire
Microsoft Inspire took place in Las Vagas between 14th and 18th of July 2018 - formerly the World Partner Conference), is an annual conference held for the Microsoft Corporation partner community.

Office 365 Saturday Adelaide
This year Office 365 Adelaide is being again this year on the 15th of September, 2018!
Office 365 Saturday Events are free events held in most capital cities in Australia throughout the year. At each event there are no less than 10 fantastic sessions covering all aspects of Office 365 presented by respected professionals in various fields.

Digital Workplace Conference
The successor to the Australian SharePoint Conference is the Digital Workplace Conference!
